FAIRVIEW, Ala. – Render Aid Alabama will host its fourth annual Boo Festival on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 4-8 p.m. at Randall Shedd Community Park in Fairview.
Founder Candi Jones said the event is free, and there will be food and drink trucks on-site if attendees want to purchase food or drinks.
“Drew Long will be our live music from 5-7 p.m.,” Jones said. “We’re also doing our domestic violence awareness walk. We will be lining up at 12 p.m. to kick off the event.”
Jones said this event is for domestic violence prevention and awareness.
“We have events that focus on life-threatening issues that could be prevented,” Jones said. “We started in 2022. Our dad was a victim of elder abuse and he passed Dec. 29, 2021. The details behind his death is what started Render Aid Alabama. Our goal is to get people to ’speak up and be the change’ that saves lives. We urge people to call 911 when they see or hear of life-threatening situations.”
All vendors will be giving out candy, and Jones encourages participants to bring their kids and dress up in costume and have a great time.
“There will be a touch-a-truck, helicopter landing, motorcycles courtesy of BACCA, car/truck show, a hay ride, inflatables, food trucks, music and more,” she said.
“Participants can get involved by reaching out to me or our page. We are looking for resource vendors and volunteers to help with the event.”
Jones said the community can help with their organization by coming to events or contacting them directly. They will also have a donation jar set up at the Boo Festival.
