FAIRVIEW, Ala. – The Fairview Town Council on Monday addressed a full agenda including multiple items related to the town’s parks and recreation facilities and staff. The council passed resolutions to:
- Pay the park’s concession stand director $2,000 for her work during the recently completed ball season
- Put the park assistant on the town’s regular payroll as a part-time employee, moving from weekly paid contractor status
- Contribute $400 to the Fairview Lions Club to pay for one of the live bands coming to perform at the club’s Labor Day car show and parade at the community park
Mayor Clint Haynes reported on painting and electrical work at the community park, saying that the facility will be ready for the town’s annual Fourth of July celebration, and that he expects the new pickleball courts to be ready to open within the next 30 days. He also told the council that the town should be ready to close on its purchase of the vacant lot adjacent to both Pizza Done Right and the community park in the near future.
Haynes announced that a new contract with Sprout Fiber Internet will bring increased revenue to the town government, based on a percentage of the value of the company’s business done in the town.
The council voted to appoint Josh Driver and Beatrice Garrison to the town’s Government Utilities Service Corporation Board, which oversees water and sewer services. Stanley Baggett, currently on the board, will remain.
The council welcomed Fairview High School FCCLA members Lola Haynes and Faith Freeman, who recently won state FCCLA competitions and qualified for national competition in Washington D.C. on July 5, 2026, a school-sponsored but self-funded trip. The council voted to contribute $500 to Fairview FCCLA to help with the cost of their trip.
The Fairview Town Council meets at 6 p.m. on the first Monday of each month at Fairview Town Hall. The public is invited to attend.
