Flood Watch For Most Of The State Into Tonight

CLANTON – Tuesday, 600 am, May 26, 2026

Another round of scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will develop across much of the state this morning and afternoon, continuing into the evening, then dissipating around 12 am.Once again, the stronger storms will produce torrential rainfall and a few wind gusts from 40-60 mph.  Widespread 1-2 inches is forecast by Wednesday morning, especially south of I-20, and some spots could receive 4+ inches.  This would produce local flooding, especially in areas that have received significant rainfall during the past few days. The wet pattern will continue through this weekend, with showers and thunderstorms across the state each day, most numerous from late morning into the evening hours.  Outside of potential flooding, widespread severe weather is not expected.Do not attempt to drive through water-covered roads.  It takes less water than you might think for your vehicle to lose contact with the roadways.  Turn around, don’t drown!
