Obituary: Michael Kevin “Mike/Kello” Kelly

Michael Kevin Kelly of Deer Lodge, Montana, formerly of Cullman, Alabama, passed away on May 11, 2026, in Deer Lodge, Montana. He was 70 years old. 
 
Mike was born on August 12, 1955, in Augusta, Georgia, to Robert Kelly and Anna Rose Branch Kelly. Known affectionately as “Mike” or “Kello” by those who truly knew and loved him, he lived a life deeply rooted in music, family, and friendship. 
 
Music was more than a passion for Mike — it was who he was. Whether he was performing on stage with lifelong friends or working in his beloved music store, he found joy in sharing music with others. He fulfilled a lifelong dream when he opened Montana Music Company in downtown Deer Lodge, where he created a place for musicians and music lovers alike to gather. A gifted bass guitarist, Mike came alive on stage, where his talent and love for performing could truly be seen. 
 
Above all else, Mike’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He loved deeply and was most proud of his children and the family he helped build. 
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Kelly and Anna Rose Branch Kelly. 
 
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Nancy “Becky” Kelly; his children, Randy (Nancy) Culbreath, Stephanie Culbreath, Harmony Kelly (Nicky), Patrick (Janet) Kelly, and Carrie (Celeste) Keltinez; his grandchildren, Matea’, Tylie, Trevor, Nathan, Caleb, Luke, Levi, Khloe, Lola, Lennox, Emmett, Rowan, and Ezra; and his great-grandchildren, Swayze, Rhett, Nylie, Abilene, and Milah. 
 
He is also survived by his siblings, Tony ( 
) Kelly, Tim (Donna) Kelly, and Collette (Dan) Short, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. 
 
Mike will be remembered for his love of music, his larger-than-life spirit, and the unwavering love he had for his family and friends. His memory will continue to live on through the music he shared and the lives he touched.
