FAIRVIEW, Ala. – West Point claimed the large-school boys championship by a single point Saturday at the Fairview Invitational, leading a strong showing by Cullman-area runners at Randall Shedd Community Park.
The Warriors finished with 29 points to edge host Fairview, which placed second with 30.
West Point sophomore Lincoln Parker won the large-school boys race with a time of 18:49.70. Collin Clark placed fourth in 20:37.14 and Griffin Jones followed in fifth at 20:44.23.
The Warriors’ championship lineup consisted entirely of sophomores. John Lombardi and James Lombardi joined Parker, Clark and Jones to complete West Point’s five-runner scoring lineup.
Fairview’s Crockett Dunn placed sixth with a time of 20:49.57 and Danny Martin finished seventh in 21:20.54. David Payes added a 10th-place finish in 24:31.02.
West Point also produced two of the meet’s individual female standouts. Sophomore Judy Salter placed fourth in the large-school varsity girls race with a time of 23:34.30.
Freshman Raelynn Lindley won the large-school junior-high girls two-mile race in 14:13.83. According to the West Point program, Lindley’s performance ranks fourth in program history among West Point girls at the two-mile distance.
Fairview finished second in the large-school girls standings with 45 points. Kayla Santos led the Aggies in eighth place at 27:35.02, followed by Joselin Parra in ninth at 29:19.44 and AnnaBelle Smith in 10th at 29:47.08.
The Fairview junior-high girls won their team division with 15 points. Elliana Hunt finished second in 15:26.24 and Crimson Watts placed third in 16:00.47.
Nicole Herrera placed fourth in 16:21.06, Alianna Wunderlich finished fifth in 16:27.62 and Ella Carter placed sixth in 17:40.05 to complete Fairview’s first five finishers.
Cullman Christian placed second in the small-school junior-high boys standings with 34 points. Falkville won the division with 23.
Cullman Christian seventh-grader Chasen Hampton captured the individual championship with a time of 11:58.77. Cutter Gibbs placed fifth in 13:41.65 and Gavin Stidham finished seventh in 14:19.91.
Caleb Randolph placed 12th in 15:03.64 and Landon Jones finished 15th in 15:46.60 to complete the Lions’ scoring lineup.
Meribelle Brock added another individual victory for Cullman Christian, winning the small-school junior-high girls race in 15:50.87. Arden Brock placed fourth in 18:02.11 and Aubrie Claire Rigsby finished sixth in 19:27.56.
Calub Pruitt led Cullman Christian in the varsity boys race, placing ninth in 20:34.80. Elisabeth DeCicco finished 10th in the small-school varsity girls race with a time of 24:59.41.
Khison Alldredge led Holly Pond with a fourth-place finish in the small-school varsity boys race, completing the course in 19:35.85. Eli Morrow placed 10th in 21:02.10 and Levi Redd finished 20th in 22:28.05.
Kynleigh Wood paced Holly Pond’s girls with an 11th-place time of 25:17.63.
Hanceville’s Ameya Harper earned a medal by placing third in the small-school junior-high girls race with a time of 16:53.29. Ely Stinson led Hanceville’s varsity boys in 24:18.04 and Georgia Garcia-Morales led its varsity girls in 38:21.43.
