The Link seeks housing coordinator to support assistance programs

    CULLMAN, Ala. – The Link of Cullman County is now accepting applications for a housing coordinator position. The role is contracted for 12 to 16 months and is focused on administering housing assistance programs funded through federal grants. 

    The position offers 32 hours per week at a rate of $16 per hour. The selected candidate will support individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing instability through coordinated housing services and case management. 

    According to the posting, the housing coordinator will process referrals through coordinated entry systems. The coordinator will also conduct participant appointments and housing inspections. The position requires ensuring all program activity complies with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and Continuum of Care requirements. 

    The role includes maintaining detailed, audit-ready documentation in HMIS and Charity Tracker systems. The housing coordinator will work closely with the supportive services manager. Responsibilities include assisting with grant reporting, data validation and compliance monitoring. 

    Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are required. Candidates must be able to work effectively with individuals facing housing instability. 

    The position also requires basic computer proficiency. Applicants must be able to maintain confidentiality under federal data standards. Reliable transportation is required for conducting home visits and inspections. 

    A degree is not required for the position. However, an associate or bachelor’s degree in social work, human services or a related field is preferred. Experience working with HUD or Continuum of Care housing programs is also preferred. Familiarity with coordinated entry systems, housing documentation and case management is beneficial. 

    The housing coordinator will play a direct role in participant engagement. Duties include scheduling and conducting eligibility appointments. The coordinator will explain program requirements, participant rights and housing standards. The position also requires maintaining ongoing communication with individuals throughout their time in the program. 

    Key responsibilities include: 

    • Receiving and processing housing referrals through coordinated entry systems 
    • Verifying eligibility and prioritization requirements under HUD and CoC guidelines 
    • Scheduling and conducting participant appointments and housing inspections 
    • Explaining program requirements, participant rights and housing standards 
    • Maintaining consistent communication with participants throughout assistance periods 

    Additional responsibilities include: 

    • Maintaining accurate and audit-ready documentation in HMIS and Charity Tracker 
    • Developing individualized housing stability plans for participants 
    • Coordinating with landlords and supportive service providers 
    • Monitoring participant progress and compliance with program requirements 
    • Assisting with grant reporting, data validation and compliance reviews 

    The work environment includes both office-based duties and fieldwork. The position requires regular in-home visits and inspections. It also involves extended periods of documentation and data entry. 

    The Link emphasized that the position is tied to grant funding. This funding carries additional compliance requirements and documentation standards. 

    Officials also noted that while the position supports housing assistance programs, the organization is not currently accepting applications for housing assistance. Information about that process will be released when funding becomes available for distribution.
