CULLMAN, Ala. – The 2025 regular season is officially in the books, and six local teams are turning their attention to the postseason. Addison, Fairview and Good Hope will host first-round playoff games, while Meek, Vinemont and West Point will hit the road to open their postseason runs.

(4A) Good Hope (8-2) v. Cherokee County (7-3) – Thursday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m.

The Good Hope Raiders return to the postseason with an 8-2 record and a 6-1 mark in Class 4A, Region 5, earning the No. 2 seed. They’ll host Cherokee County (7-3), the Region 6 No. 3 seed.

Good Hope’s offense averaged 35 points per game, while its defense allowed only 11. Cherokee County scored 28 per game and allowed 18. The Raiders went 5-0 at home this season; the Warriors were 2-3 on the road. This will be the third meeting between the two programs, with Good Hope still seeking its first win in the series.

The Raiders will look to keep their home streak intact and ride the energy of their crowd into round two.

(5A) Fairview (10-0) v. Arab (4-6) – Thursday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m.

For the second straight season, Fairview finished the regular season undefeated and claimed the Class 5A, Region 7 championship. The Aggies have now won 21 straight regular season games dating back to 2023.

Fairview averaged 38 points per game and allowed just 14. Arab averaged 18 points and gave up 24. The teams last met in 1977, with Arab holding a 9-0 all-time record in the series. Fairview went 5-0 at home this season; Arab finished 2-3 on the road.

If the Aggies continue their balanced play on both sides of the ball, they’ll advance to the second round.

(5A) West Point (5-5) at Scottsboro (6-4) – Thursday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m.

West Point improved under second-year head coach Kevin McCravy, jumping from two wins last season to five and earning a playoff berth. The Warriors secured the No. 4 seed from Class 5A, Region 7 with a 25-20 win over Ardmore.

They’ll face Scottsboro (6-4), the Region 8 champion, in the first-ever meeting between the schools. West Point averaged 20 points per game and allowed 23, while Scottsboro scored 30 and gave up 17. The Warriors were 2-3 on the road; the Wildcats went 3-2 at home.

For West Point to pull the upset, it will need to control the line of scrimmage and contain a potent Scottsboro offense.

(1A) Addison (9-1) v. Ragland (5-5) – Thursday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m.

Addison didn’t miss a beat under first-year head coach Mark Hastings, rolling to a 9-1 record and another region title. The Bulldogs went 7-0 in Class 1A, Region 7, earning the top seed and the right to host Ragland (5-5), the No. 4 seed from Region 8.

Addison’s offense averaged nearly 44 points per game, while its defense allowed only 11. Ragland averaged 33 points but gave up 31. The Bulldogs went 4-1 at home; the Purple Devils were 2-3 on the road. This will be the fourth all-time meeting between the teams and the first since 2013.

If Addison’s offense and defense perform as they have all year, the Bulldogs will move on to round two.

(1A) Meek (7-3) at Woodville (7-3) – Friday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m.

For the fifth straight year, the Meek Tigers are headed to the playoffs. They finished 7-3 overall and 5-2 in Class 1A, Region 7, closing the regular season on a three-game win streak in which they outscored Cherokee, Vina and Carbon Hill by a combined 138-20.

Meek averaged 38 points per game while allowing just 18, and will now face Region 8 runner-up Woodville, which scored more than 32 points per game and allowed 30. The Tigers went 3-2 on the road this season; Woodville was 4-1 at home. The teams meet for the third time overall and the first since 2013.

Meek will look to strike early and often while limiting Woodville’s explosive offense. If the Tigers execute on both sides of the ball, they’ll advance to round two.

(3A) Vinemont (6-4) at Westminster Christian (9-1) – Friday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m.

The Vinemont Eagles are back in the playoffs for a sixth consecutive season after finishing 6-4 overall and 5-2 in Class 3A, Region 5. They’ll travel to face Westminster Christian (9-1), the Region 6 runner-up.

Vinemont averaged 27 points per game and allowed 24, while Westminster posted 44 points per game and gave up only 12. The teams have met twice before, most recently in 2019 when the Warriors won 35-0. The Eagles went 3-2 on the road; Westminster was unbeaten at home (5-0).

Vinemont upset then-No. 5 Gordo in Week 8 and will look to replicate that performance against another ranked opponent.
