Anthony “Tony” Lynn Ellard, of Welti, passed away early in the morning of August 16, 2026, at his hunting club in Clarke County, Alabama at the age of 65.
Tony was a loving husband, father, brother, and son. He was a hard-working cattleman, a world traveler to over 80 countries, a patented inventor, and an avid outdoorsman who was well known for his breadth of knowledge and love of a good joke.
He grew up in Holly Pond, spending summers riding his bike to Blountsville, where he spent time with his grandmother as a young boy. He graduated from Holly Pond High School in 1979 and continued his education at WSCC before enjoying a fruitful Ag engineering career and raising a family in Welti.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred O. and Lois Ellard, and brother, Mike Ellard.
Tony is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Mary Burnham Ellard, sons, Will and Wes Ellard, sisters, Carolyn (Bartee) Bryan, Patsy (Roger) Brown, and Tina (David) Southerland, mother-in-law, Carolyn (Joe) Burnham, and brother-in-law, David Burnham.
Tony’s family will receive friends, family and neighbors for visitation on Thursday, August 20 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. and funeral at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 21, both at Moss Service Funeral Home. He will be buried at Welti Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
