Teachers were treated to a meal and giveaways, and there were booths manned by sponsors including First National Bank, the Alabama Education Association, the Cullman Electric Cooperative and United Way of Cullman County.
Speakers included Alabama Senate President Pro Tempore Garlan Gudger, R-Cullman; Holly Pond graduate John Garcia; UWCC Executive Director Stephanie Childers and Cullman County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Chad Whaley.
Whaley spoke on the importance of resource officers at schools.
“We’re excited for the new things going on from a safety standpoint,” he said. “I was a resource officer for many years. To me, that’s the most important job at the sheriff’s office. We hold those guys to a very high standard, and having said that, take advantage of them.”
Cullman County Schools students return Aug. 7, to begin the 2025-2026 school year.
