CULLMAN, Ala. – Pentastar South Car Club hosts a car show every year in June to support Secret Meals for Hungry Children. Mopars by the Lake Organizer Brenda Allison said the show would not be possible without sponsors.

    In Brenda’s words:

When the Dodge dealership sold, I approached new owner Kevin Allison and spoke with him about the show and how the dealership has been with us as a sponsor for many years. He didn’t blink an eye and said, “Count me in. That’s the kind of sponsors we deal with.

Along with the Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram dealership, we have Alabama Credit Union, Napa Auto Parts, Advance Auto Parts, West Cullman Electric and many more that are happy to support our cause.

Secret Meals for Hungry Children became real to me as I taught high school and kids would come by my classroom and ask for crackers, Pop Tarts or anything I might have to eat. That’s when I realized how food insecurity affected a lot of my students. They were coming to school to eat.

That’s when our club decided to partner with Secret Meals to help. The $4,000 raised (at this year’s Mopars by the Lake event) will make a sizable impact in the fight against food insecurity.

Secret Meal packs are delivered to the schools where students are identified as needing something to eat on the weekend. While the kids are at PE, teachers place food packs in their backpacks, so that others will not know and they will not be embarrassed. Thus the name, Secret Meals.

All money raised here in Cullman County stays here to support students that are in need.

Secret Meals is more than a charity; they are a movement dedicated to ending childhood hunger in Alabama. Through the unwavering support of Alabama Credit Union and compassionate individuals like you, Secret Meals has become a beacon of hope for thousands of children.

You can donate through the Secret Meals site (www.secretmeals.org), where you can choose a one-time gift or a monthly recurring gift. $140 feeds one child one weekend for an entire year. You can also go by any branch of Alabama Credit Union and donate there.

No child should be without food, With your help, no child will be hungry.
