Henry Charles Guthery Jr., age 63, of Cullman, Alabama, passed away on May 30, 2026. He was born on September 7, 1962, in Birmingham Alabama.

Henry’s life reflected steady determination and strength of spirit—qualities that carried him from early athletic excellence to a life marked by service, work, and deep devotion to those he loved.

In his youth, Henry distinguished himself as a two-time 1,000-yard All-American running back at West Point High School in Cullman, AL, a testament to both discipline and drive.

He later served in the Air Force, carrying forward a sense of duty and resilience. In civilian life, he was a proud business owner of 278 Scrap Metal Recycling, known for his hard work and perseverance.

Henry also set high standards for himself in personal pursuits. He won 1st place in Light Heavyweight and was awarded Mr. Alabama in a bodybuilding competition. He enjoyed attending the gym, riding bicycles, and was an avid reader—interests that spoke to a lifelong commitment to self-improvement and curiosity. Along the way, his humor remained a welcome gift to those around him, offering lightness and warmth in everyday moments.

Henry is survived by his two sons, Dr. Henry Guthery III (Kilsy) and Andrew Guthery (Kelly); his brothers, Rodney Guthery and Scott Guthery; and five adoring grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Henry Charles Guthery Sr. and Sherry Lee Guthery.

Henry will be remembered as devoted and beloved—steadfast in purpose, generous in presence, and enduring in the love he gave to his family and all who knew him.
