BAILEYTON, Ala. – For some families, this Christmas may be a little harder than usual. The Parkside Outreach Program wants to help, but time is running short.
The Baileyton nonprofit’s Christmas Coalition, which helps make the holiday brighter for local children and families in need, is accepting applications through Sunday, Nov. 1.
“Together, we can make the season brighter,” the program said in sharing the sign-up.
How to apply
Applications are available online at parksideoutreach.com, through the program’s Facebook page or in person at the Parkside Outreach store, 12756 Alabama Highway 69 in Baileyton. Families can also scan the QR code on the program’s flyer to open the application.
To qualify:
- Complete one application per household.
- Children must live in the household, and applicants must live within a 10-mile radius of Parkside Outreach Program.
- Bring proof of residence for every child listed.
- Bring proof of all household income. A SNAP allotment letter may be used.
All completed applications and required documents must be received by the deadline. Approved families will be notified by Nov. 13, and pickups will be the week of Dec. 14.

Ways to give
There’s a place in this effort for those who want to give, too. Parkside is looking for sponsors from the community and local churches to help provide Christmas for a child. To sponsor a child, call 256-506-5545 or message the program on Facebook.
Neighbors helping neighbors
Jennifer Harlow founded Parkside Outreach Program in 2018 after seeing a need for nonprofit work in the area. Today, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit serves the Parkside community and beyond, with much of its growth coming from surrounding communities and church families. Every dollar spent at its thrift store goes back to the community, funding a local food pantry and helping neighbors in need.
