CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman City Board of Education at its meeting on Aug. 18 approved a contract with the North Alabama Agriplex through 2028.
Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff explained, “The board approved a two-year agreement with North Alabama Agriplex. Through our partnership with North Alabama Agriplex we pay $20,000 annually. In return we get help with our outdoor classrooms, access to summer outreach programs for our students and outdoor classroom lessons throughout the school year.”
He stated the partnership is something the Board has continued to value and maintain.
Budget hearings
The Board also announced that a called board meeting will be held for the first budget hearing on Sept. 3, 2026.
The second budget hearing will be held on Sept. 8, 2026, during the board’s regular meeting. Both hearings will be held at the Board’s central office at 5 p.m.
MOU with Athens State
The Board approved a memorandum of understanding with Athens State University.
Kallhoff noted, “Cullman City Schools partners with Athens State University to provide teacher candidates with field experience and internship opportunities in our schools. Athens State works with the district to coordinate placements, while our schools provide candidates with opportunities to observe and gain hands-on classroom experience in experienced teachers’ classrooms. During their internship, candidates work closely with a cooperating teacher and university supervisor to apply what they have learned in their coursework to a real classroom setting.”
He continued, “This partnership allows us to support the development of future educators while also introducing teacher candidates to the students, staff and culture of Cullman City Schools.”
