ADDISON, Ala. – The quarterfinals of the 2025 AHSAA State Football Playoffs concluded last week, and Addison was the only local team to emerge victorious. The Bulldogs trailed Marion County, 16-8, in the first half, but they took control of the ballgame in the second half. A 25-yard touchdown pass from Elijah Roberts to Judah Wilkins cut it to 16-14, and a big interception by Trennon Burns had Addison on the doorstep of taking the lead. A big pass from Roberts to Seth Hammack put them at the 5, and a 4-yard quarterback keeper by Roberts gave the Bulldogs a 22-16 lead. Later in the fourth quarter, Addison forced a turnover, and Hammack punched it in from 2 yards to make it 28-16. A late touchdown by the Red Raiders cut it to 28-22, but the Bulldogs recovered the onside kick to help secure the six-point win over Marion County.

With the huge win last week over the Red Raiders, Addison punched its ticket to the Class 1A state semifinals, and will be hosting the No. 1-ranked Wadley Bulldogs this Friday night.

Wadley knocked off Hubbertville at home, 62-38, to move on to the semifinals. Both teams’ offenses have lit up the scoreboard so far this season, with Addison putting up 48 points a game, and Wadley scoring 52 points a game. Their defenses haven’t been too shabby at all, as Addison has allowed just 15 points a game, and Wadley has given up 13 points a game. This game will either be a shootout or a defensive affair this Friday night.

This will be the third time Addison and Wadley have faced off, and it will be their first meeting since 2005. Addison is 6-1 at home this season, while Wadley is 4-0 away from its home stadium, so this will definitely be a can’t-miss game between a pair of top-10 teams.

Addison will look to make it to the state title game for the first time since 2005, and Wadley will try to make it to the championship game for the second straight season. Addison will look to make history under first-year head coach Mark Hastings, and will have to play sound football from start to finish if they want to make it to their first Class 1A state championship game in 20 years.
