CULLMAN, Ala. – After SNAP benefits were in limbo and as deer hunting season begins in the area, The Link of Cullman County has launched Open Season on Hunger.

The nonprofit’s food pantry, The Pantry at The Link, is encouraging hunters to share their bounties and select cuts from their game to donate. The Link is partnering with Weaver Meat Processing and Brothers Processing for these donations. With this partnership, meat can be brought directly to the facilities to be divided into what is donated and what is going home with the consumer. From there, whatever is donated will be set aside for The Pantry and picked up in due time. This makes it easier for hunters to donate without having to bring it by the facility.

The Link encourages any participants in Open Season on Hunger to call these establishments ahead of bringing their game in. As deer hunting is kicking off, they have the potential to be very busy. Letting them know beforehand helps ensure the best use of your time and theirs, and helps The Link properly plan for donation pickups.
