CULLMAN, Ala. – Honey Baked Ham is officially open in Cullman. It’s located at 1738 Second Ave. SW (U.S. Highway 31) next to Farmers Home Furniture. The store, owned by industry veteran Andy Gahagen, marks his sixth Honey Baked Ham location in 20 years.
Gahagen said Cullman has been on the company’s radar for several years, and he and his wife were drawn to the community while considering purchasing a home on Smith Lake. That connection helped make Cullman the brand’s newest home.
Opening day on Nov. 17 brought a strong response, despite ongoing construction. The store served customers and is preparing for a busy Thanksgiving week. Because the interior space is not yet completed, customers are currently being served from an outdoor kiosk located between Honey Baked Ham and Farmers Home Furniture.
Gahagen said customers can order online by going to www.honeybaked.com/storepickup, choosing items and prepaying before picking up their orders at the kiosk. Walk-up purchases are also available.
The menu will expand once the full indoor store opens around Dec. 1. In addition to the store’s signature ham and turkey, Honey Baked Ham will sell sandwiches, soups, salads, deli items, ribs, chicken salad, broccoli salad and more. Full-service catering and business gifting options will also be available, with several local businesses already placing holiday orders.
The Cullman location currently employs six to seven staff members, with plans to hire about 10 additional workers for the Christmas season.
Gahagen said customers can expect the same quality products that Honey Baked Ham has offered since 1954 as the store settles into the community.
The new 2,500-square-foot location will be able to seat 16 guests inside and is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. It is closed on Sundays.
