MIDFIELD, Ala. – The Hanceville Bulldogs hit the road for a region matchup at Midfield Friday night and after a strong start in the first half, Hanceville was unable to keep up with the Patriots in the second half. The Bulldogs went into the locker room leading 20-16 at halftime but were outscored 40-0 in the second half and Midfield pulled away to win it 56-20.
The Patriots held an 8-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Hanceville found the end zone early in the second to make it an 8-6 game. The Bulldogs scored to move in front 14-8 midway through the second quarter and after Midfield pulled back ahead 16-14, Hanceville scored just before halftime to take a 20-16 lead into the locker room at the break.
Unfortunately for Bulldog fans, the second half was dominated by the Patriots. Midfield tacked on 32 points in the third quarter to take a 48-20 lead into the fourth and the Patriots found the end zone one more time in the final period to wrap up a 56-20 win over the Bulldogs.
Hanceville (0-7) will return home for a region game against Winfield next week.
