CULLMAN, Ala. – About 150 people filled the Cullman County Agricultural Trade Center Friday, April 11, for the annual Senior Easter Egg Hunt. Cullman County Commission on Aging (COA) Director Stephanie Lawson said you’re never too old for a little Easter magic, and this event provides just that for local seniors.
“We had 1,000 eggs to hunt with the senior citizens today,” Lawson said. “This is just such a fun way to get our locals involved and out moving hunting eggs. It’s like childhood all over again. We love to have them and be able to entertain them.”
Lawson said she estimated 150 in attendance between seniors, volunteers and elected officials.
Community member and candidate for Alabama House of Representatives, District 11, Don Fallin was in attendance and said he wanted to thank Lawson for all the great things she does for the COA and local senior centers, as well as the Egg Hunt.
“We are so thankful for Stephanie’s hard work and effort that she pours into seniors,” Fallin said. “We are thankful for all the local people who came by to support it.”
Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry thanked the COA for inviting him to celebrate the Easter season with local senior residents.
“It is an honor to be a part of such a wonderful event. It is great to see the excitement and joy on the faces of everyone here,” Gentry said. The Easter season is a great time for fellowship and fun. This is particularly true with our senior citizens here in Cullman County. They truly are the foundation that makes Cullman County so special.”
