CULLMAN, Ala. — Cullman High School has found its new Lady Bearcats basketball coach in Tammy West, a 2022 Cullman County Sports Hall of Fame inductee who has won four state titles during her decades-long career.
West has amassed more than 750 wins during her career and is among the winningest coaches in AHSAA girls basketball history. West has coached several teams to playoff runs, and her four state titles came in the 1999, 2008, 2009 and 2019 seasons.
“I’m incredibly excited and honored for the opportunity to be the next coach of the Cullman High School girls’ basketball team,” Coach West said. “I’m looking forward to building upon an already incredible foundation and leading this program into an exciting new era of girls basketball.”
In a called board meeting on Monday afternoon, the Cullman City Board of Education officially approved the hiring of Coach Tammy West as the new head coach of the Lady Bearcat Basketball program. Her proven leadership and dedication to student-athletes make her a valuable addition to the Bearcat family.
“We are excited to add a legendary coach like Tammy West to the Cullman Bearcat family,” Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff said. “I look forward to the impact she will have on our school and basketball program, but most importantly, our student-athletes.”
Coach West’s arrival marks an exciting new chapter for Cullman High School’s girls’ basketball program, bringing championship-level experience and a commitment to excellence both on and off the court.
