Graveside services for Douglas Franklin “Joe” Brock will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Center Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Hanceville, Alabama, with Col. Peter L. Tartar officiating. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 3, 2025 at Hanceville Funeral Home.

Mr. Brock was preceded in death by his wife Judith Ella Cagle Brock, his parents Rotha Jackson and Essie Bailey Brock of Cullman, and five brothers and two sisters.

As the youngest of the Brock family, he gained two names that he carried throughout his life—Peewee, because he was the baby of Jack and Essie’s family, and Joe, because he was born when oldest brother Winfred fought in WWII an, came home and called everyone he didn’t know “Joe.”

Mr. Brock was a great friend to many. He could brighten anywhere he went—whether by making a sly joke or giving good advice, or, most of the time, both. He made all feel loved and included, treating people the way he wanted to be treated.

He is survived by four daughters: Suzanne (James) Turner; Leasa Brock; Angela (Peter) Tartar; and Dana Lloyd; grandchildren Wesley, Will, Noah, and Andrea; and a host of great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank you all for your encouragement, love, and loyalty.
