HANCEVILLE, Ala. – The Hanceville Youth Football Association will host the Special Needs All-Star Flag Football Challenge on Nov. 9, at noon. at the Hanceville High School Football Stadium. This special event aims to bring the community together while raising funds for local special needs organizations and playgrounds specifically designed for children with special needs.

The day’s activities will include a flag football camp and game tailored for the all-star athletes, fun games and challenges around the track for kids of all ages and emergency vehicle displays, allowing children to meet local heroes and explore the vehicles up close.

Michael Reese, president of the Hanceville Youth Football Association, shared the inspiration behind the event, saying, “This event was inspired by one of our youth football games this year. As I walked around, I noticed a few children sitting in the stands eager to play. I asked one child why he didn’t play and his mom said he has special needs. My niece is special needs and I understand how badly she wants to participate in normal activities but is simply restricted by either medical or emotional limitations. Every child should have the chance to play and attempt to reach their goals no matter how big or small they may seem. This event is meant to give them that chance and enjoy events that they normally do not get to do.”

Participation is free for all attendees, with donations encouraged as the only entrance fee. “We are looking for sponsors to help cover event costs and provide prizes for participants. Any contributions, whether monetary or in-kind, are greatly appreciated,” added Reese.

Volunteers are also needed for registration, setup and general coordination of the event. Anyone interested in volunteering or seeking more information can contact Michael Reese at 910-725-9349 or via email at Hyfabulldogs@gmail.com.
