Johnson and Barrett played excellent defense during this span for the Bulldogs.  After a Saint Bernard timeout, the Lady Saints came marching in as they took 5 straight points trim the lead to 23-21. Both teams split the remaining 4 points and for the first time in a long time, Saint Bernard had won a set over the Lady Bulldogs, 25-23.

The third set got off to a fairly even start for both teams. Addison’s Ava Bartlett was dominant on the net. With the score standing at Addison 8-6, Powell served for 4 straight to stretch the lead to 12-6. After a Bartlett kill, Barrett went for 9 straight points and pushed the lead to 21-7. Moser was solid on the dig front for the Lady Bulldogs while Powell kept piling up assists. A short Lady Saint run, 4 out of 5, Addison closed out the game Lady Saints taking the final three points for the 25-11 win.

The Lady Saints jumped out 5-4 in the fourth set and were playing extremely well. The Lady Saints were diving all over the court and playing outstanding defense. Addison looking to end this game, turned to Barrett who served 9 straight to pull the Lady Bulldogs out front 13-5 and take control of the game. The Lady Saints, playing inspired ball, weren’t ready to give up and took 6 out of 8. The score was 15-11 Addison and Addison was able to stretch it to 19-13. The Lady Bulldogs just couldn’t put Saint Bernard away. Ms. Kendall Wyatt then took the service for the Lady Bulldogs and ran off the final 6 to get the win 25-13.

Addison is the area champ and will host the area tournament which is set for Oct.16 at 1 p.m. in Addison.

Addison Head Coach Kaydi Woodard,

“Everybody has a team that plays them tough regardless of record and Saint Bernard is that team for us. They are a much-improved team from last year and for some reason we struggle with them. Glad that our ladies settled down and we could get the win.”
