Obituary: Brother Donald “Don” Ray Riner

Brother Donald “Don” Ray Riner, age 79 of Sumter, South Carolina, passed away Saturday, September, 28, 2024 at Prisma Health-Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. 
 
Bro. Don was born June 8, 1945 to Walter and Flora Riner. In his 54-year ministry, he pastored six churches, four in Alabama and two in South Carolina. Bro. Don was known for his heart for people, his passion for the Gospel, and his love for missions. He was a hard-working family man who loved Alabama Football. 
 
Visitation will be Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church in the Helicon Community. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the adjoining church cemetery. Kyle McCombs will officiate. 
 
Bro. Don is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gwen Riner; daughters, Tammy (James W.) Simms, Vicky (Kent) Williams, and Myra (Edward) Russ; grandchildren, Stacie Simms, Leah Simms, Tyler (Makenzie) Williams, Kannan (Lisa) Woods, Kari (Jesse) West, and Tyler Barwick; great grandchildren, Kenzly, Hunt, Haisly, Kamdyn, Avery, Grayson, and Cohen; and a host of nieces and nephews. 
 
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Flora Riner; and 13 brothers and sisters.
