CULLMAN, Ala. – Hosted by the Cullman Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism Foundation, Dinner on First is an elegant affair held each year along First Avenue in downtown Cullman’s Warehouse District. This year’s event will take place Saturday, May 18.

Cullman Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism Executive Director Nathan Anderson said, “I am profoundly grateful for the Foundation’s dedication and hard work, which have been pivotal in elevating our community to one of the nation’s best. Their annual fundraising efforts are a testament to their commitment and have made a significant impact on our collective success and vitality.”

Dinner on First serves as a fundraiser for the CPRST Foundation’s annual project. This year’s project is expanding the playground and splash pad at Heritage Park to create a more inclusive space for the community. The expansion will allow more families to enjoy the facilities together and include additional accessible features, ensuring that everyone, regardless of age or ability, can join in the fun. The fundraising goal is $100,000.

“The primary goal of the Dinner on First event is to raise funds for the much-needed renovation and expansion of the playground and splash pad at Heritage Park,” said CPRST Recreational Development Director and Dinner on First organizer Christy Turner. “This project is close to the heart of the community, aiming to create a more inclusive and enjoyable space for local families and children. The enhancements to the park will ensure that it remains a cherished community asset, where children of all abilities can play and create lasting memories together.”

The event’s finely curated meal is one aspect of the evening that some attendees look forward to the most. Dyron’s Lowcountry, which provided the meal for the inaugural Dinner on First event in 2016, will return to the sidewalks of First Avenue to wow the crowd with its tasty masterpieces. Guests will enjoy fine dining under the sparkling lights, and the event will also feature complimentary table wine as well as a full cash bar.

“We are excited to announce that Dyron’s Lowcountry will once again be the provider of the delicious dishes for Dinner on First. Dyron’s Lowcountry will offer guests a dining experience like no other. Beyond their reputation for exceptional Southern cuisine, Dyron’s embodies a spirit of a community support and local love that truly sets them apart,” Turner said. “Under the guidance of their talented chef, attendees can expect a menu that is both innovative and delicious, perfectly complementing the evening.”

The festivities will kick off with a social hour at 6 p.m., giving guests the opportunity to mingle and enjoy the atmosphere. Dinner seating and the first course are planned for 7. An after-party will be hosted following the meal, featuring dueling pianos.

Tables and seats for the event are available for auction at https://cprs.betterworld.org/auctions/dinner-first-2024.
