FALKVILLE, Ala. – The town of Falkville held its Christmas in the Park event on Sunday, Dec. 3, at Jack McCaig Park.

The Falkville Community Pride group- which hosts the event each year, said this is the 25th occurrence of Christmas in the Park— and it’s grown in attendance every year.

Tina Rogers and Frances Rowe, two special individuals and members of Community Pride since the beginning, shared some of their favorite moments centered around the program.

“I love hearing David Halbrooks sing ‘Oh Holy Night,’” Rogers said. “He has been with us for all 25 years and he is a staple in this program to me. Honestly, we love seeing everyone here, and we appreciate everyone who pours into this event.”

Rowe agreed and shared that for her, it’s the community-centered mindset that the event brings.

“It is so good to see so many people come out each year and be very supportive of  the town, the program and all those who help,” Rowe said. “The feeling of the whole community coming together – that is the true sentiment of what we want to create here.”

In years past, Community Pride handled the event fully, but now, Town of Falkville employees and many community members band together to get the park ready.

“We truly appreciate the mayor, town council and all Town employees for what they do,” Rowe said. “We (Community Pride) handle putting the decorations together, but the Town has really done so much and truly assisted in seeing this program through. We are very thankful.”
