FAIRVIEW, Ala. – The Fairview Senior Center is looking for a volunteer to deliver meals to local homebound clients.

Fairview Senior Center Manager Angie Carter said the homebound clientele depend on them to deliver meals weekly.

“If you love seniors and want to help deliver meals, please contact the center,” Carter said.

“The volunteer would come to the center and pick up your cold and hot items that have to be delivered, then deliver the meals to people that are on the designated route sheet. The volunteer would leave the meal with homebound clients and document how they are doing and that they received the meal.”

Carter said the job is not difficult; in fact, it’s quite rewarding.

“The volunteer would  just have to learn the route,” Carter said. “The routes do change from time to time because of a client potentially passing away, going into the nursing home or they could just cancel their meals orders. We can also add new clients to current routes for the volunteers. But this process is truly a blessing to our homebound people, and the drivers in turn, get a blessing out of it, too.”

To volunteer or for more information, contact the Fairview Senior Center at 256-796-6714 between 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday through Friday.
