CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman City Council on Monday recognized a group of international students who have worked at WildWater this summer. Earlier this year, the city was approved as a host city for the J-1 Visa Program through a partnership with the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE). Cullman Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism (CPRST) welcomed the students to WildWater for a 12-week work internship.

CPRST Executive Director Nathan Anderson said, “Our college students that have been with us through the season, they’ve done an amazing job. We’ve learned a lot about each other and I think they have been fully indoctrinated into our local culture here and have learned a lot. We’ve also shared a lot of funny stories back and forth and are really excited about our time together. We could not have pulled the season off without them.”

Anderson also shared that WildWater won first place in the 2023 Dream Designs from Aquatics International.

Council President Jenny Folsom said the City is applying for a United States Department of Transportation Multimodal Project Discretionary Grant to replace the St. Bernard bridge and widen U.S. Highway 278 from Alabama Highway 69 to Fourth Avenue Southeast. The application for the grant was submitted Monday evening.

It also modifies the non-residential usage table and adds some clarity and conformity with the state law to the definition of manufacturer.”
