Roxie Shirley Goodwin Fields Ponder passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026. She was born May 2, 1935, to Ophir Goodwin and Elvia Wilson Goodwin. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, daughter Lisa Fields, and husband Johnny Fields.
A lifelong resident of Cullman County, she spent the majority of her life educating students at Cold Springs, Hanceville, East Point, Prospect, and Holly Pond schools. She loved attending church and spent much of her time listening to hymns and the occasional country music ballad.
She will be remembered for her love of sweets, high heels, and most of all her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Fields Rutherford (Mark); brothers Jerry Goodwin and Kendall (Madus) Goodwin; and grandchildren, Erica and Skyeler Rutherford.
A graveside service celebrating her life will be held at Ryan’s Creek Baptist Church at a later date.
