HOLLY POND, Ala. — Holly Pond senior volleyball player Madi Brown moved to Holly Pond last year and the change was nothing new to her, coming from a military family. She talked about her junior volleyball season, what it was like playing with the Lady Broncos, and how she felt she played.

“I was in a military family, so I was pretty used to moving around a lot and being the new kid at school, but I warmed up to it pretty fast. I’ve got good friends now. What I’ve learned during my time at Holly Pond so far is to be myself,” Brown said. “I think we did great last year. Even though our last game wasn’t our best, we still got pretty far. I learned that we need to work together and learn more about how we can do better as a team. Other than my surgery holding me back, it was pretty easy to play with the girls. They were supportive and they’re fun girls to hang around. I learned to be supportive and to cheer everyone on. Team bonding is definitely key. I think I did pretty good. I got better throughout the season.”

Madi learned a great thing from coach Adrien Adams last season and from senior Aliyah Ryan. She will work on a couple of things during the offseason as she gets ready for next season. She has set some goals for herself and for the team this upcoming season.

“Coach Adams definitely pushes us to do our best and holds us at a very high standard. I’ve learned that I’m better than I think I am,” she said. “She definitely pushed us to be better and what I learned from her is to try our best. I will continue to work on my strength and bonding more and more with the team. My individual goals are to get stronger and better. The team goal is to just be great people on and off the court. If we can do that, we can go to state this year.”

Madi thinks this season will be a very special one for the Lady Broncos and talked about the best advice that someone ever gave her.

“What will make us special to watch is our teamwork and dedication to the sport. You can see how hard we work to get to where we are,” she said. “The best advice that someone ever gave me is to not give up. What I’ve learned from my group of seniors is that they’re willing to do anything to win.”
