HOLLY POND, Ala. – Elena Saldana, a rising senior at Holly Pond High School, is back in the ring fighting cancer.

Saldana’s journey with cancer began in ninth grade when she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, which resulted in an amputation of her leg. After she returned to class for the 2022-23 school year, doctors made the sad discovery her cancer has come back- this time, in her left lung.

As Saldana prepares for a lengthy round of testing and treatments at Children’s of Alabama, Broncos for Christ, a club sponsored by Holly Pond High School Aide Emily Ryan, is stepping in to bridge the gap for any needs Saldana’s family may have.

Ryan shared, “She is precious and an inspiration to me and so many others.”

Broncos for Christ is selling shirts to raise funds for Saldana’s family. Sizes S-XL are $20, and size 2X $22.  Checks should be made payable to Broncos for Christ. Additionally,

monetary contributions can be made at Traditions Bank to the Holly Pond Broncos for Christ account.
