Obituary: Kenneth Frederick Quick

Funeral services for Kenneth Frederick Quick of Hanceville will be 3 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2023 at East Side Baptist Church in Cullman. Burial will follow the service at Hopewell Cemetery in Hanceville. Rev. Tony Tidwell, Rev. Sam Hollis and Rev. Matt Smith will officiate the service. Pete Grund will offer a prayer and words of acknowledgement at the graveside service. Visitation for the public will be from 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. at East Side Baptist Church on Sunday.

Mr. Quick was born in Cullman County, Alabama on Nov. 18, 1940 to David Chester Quick and Flora Elizabeth (Giles) Quick and passed away at the age of 82 on April 27, 2023 at his residence. He graduated from Hanceville High School and worked at Lanson Industries as a machine operator for 26 years. After Lanson closed he went to America Cold for a short time and then got a job at Webb Wheel; that is where he was at the time of his stroke in October of 2003 that took most of his eye sight. He continued to be as kind and helpful to people as he could be with limited sight. He was a good father, husband, and grandfather. He served as a deacon from March 1969 until he was no longer able.

He was a faithful member of the Hanceville Lion’s Club for over 14 years and loved every day of serving others which was his passion. He was married to the love of his life from June 5, 1964 to April 27, 2023.

Mr. Quick is survived by his wife, Katherine (Simpson) Quick; one son, David Allen Quick and his spouse Carol Quick; one grandson, A.J. Quick; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Quick; sister, Mary Elizabeth Boatright; and a host of very dear friends and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, J.D. Quick.

Before his passing he mentioned, “I leave behind many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews and ask that you do not grieve for me for I have gone to meet Jesus and live in my heavenly home.”

Serving as pallbearers will be, Jeff Boatright, Michael Boatright, Anthony Boatright, Philip Boatright, Tory Boatright and Eli Chambers. Honorary pallbearers will include Larry Cornelius, Sam Guy, Rex Jordan, Charles Pugh, and Ronnie Chamblee.

In lieu of flowers the family asks’ that donations be made to the Lion’s Club of Hanceville or a favorite charity in his memory.
