CULLMAN, Ala. – The spring 2023 session of the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Citizens’ Academy kicked off Tuesday, March 14. This is the ninth year of the program, which gives Cullman County residents an opportunity to learn about the role of law enforcement in the community.
This year the Citizen’s Academy started out differently. Instead of meeting at Cullman City Hall or the CCSO Training Center, the session started at the Cullman County Courthouse so attendees could meet Cullman County District Attorney Champ Crocker and his staff. Attendees were also introduced to Cullman County Circuit Clerk Lisa McSwain, Cullman County District Court Judge Rusty Turner, Cullman County Circuit Court Judge Martha Williams, Cullman County Probate Judge Tammy Brown and Cullman County Circuit Court Judge Nicholas.
Attendees were offered a tour of the DA’s office followed by a tour of the Cullman County Detention Center.
Future sessions will include a SWAT team demo, a morning at the shooting range, ride-alongs with patrol deputies and CCSO speakers sharing scenario-based experiences.
At the end of the session, a graduation ceremony will be held April 18.
