Mr. John Ivey visited Mr. Hiram Ivey, of Joppa, on Sunday evening.

Misses Jennie Miller and Ruth and Ruby Johnson were the Saturday evening callers of Miss Marjorie Jackson.

Among the number represented at the reunion at Mr. and Mrs. Joy Lackey’s, on Sunday, were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mints, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Brooks, Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Hafer, Reverend R.H. Ridgeway, Mr. Jesse Dye, Eloise Mints and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Brooks.

Mr. and Mrs. Joy Lackey and family were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mints, on Tuesday.

Mrs. Nealie Reesie Whitaker, age 58, died on February 4th, at Steppville, Route One and was buried on February 5th, at the Center Cemetery with Reverend R. McKibbins officiating and Drinkard in charge. Mrs. Whitaker is survived by her husband, Mr. Tom Whitaker, four sons, Hughes, Luther, Guy and Curtis and one daughter, Mrs. Lola Brannon.

It will take Martha Anne, the nine month old daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. Leldon Singleton, quite a time to become acquainted with her relatives. Beside her parents, she has two grandfathers, two grandmothers, two great-grandfathers, three great-grandmothers and two great- great-grandmothers.

The Crosley Radio Station, WLW in Cincinnati, is telling the world about Cullman on a nationwide hookup on Wednesday night, February 22nd, at 10:30 p.m., Cullman time. Letters are going out of Cullman daily by local residents and especially business firms, telling persons in other cities and states to listen to this broadcast. Cullman will receive more publicity on this one night than ever before and it is believed practically every citizen of Cullman and Cullman County will be at a radio on the night of February 22nd, to hear the “Salute to Cullman.”

Freda Joyce Wooten, daughter of Mrs. Cora Wooten, died at 4:00 o’clock, on Thursday afternoon, February 2nd, at the Protestant Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. She was stricken with flu and pneumonia in December. Following this serious illness, a head ailment resulted from which the deceased never recovered. Two operations were performed prior to her passing.

Freda Joyce was well-liked by members of the younger set in Cullman. She was a graduate of the class of ’34 at the Cullman County High School. Recently she graduated as a registered nurse at the Protestant Hospital in Nashville.

She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Cora Wooten, two sisters, Madeline and Norma and one brother, Jimmy.

Funeral services were conducted from the First Methodist Church, the past Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock, by Reverend R.B. Lavender, assisted by Reverend J.S. Blackburn. Interment followed in the Protestant Cemetery.

The Cullman Bearcats, of County High, trounced the Phillips Crimsons, of Birmingham, last Friday. They were led, as usual, by Cullman center, “Papa Tree Tops” Seals and by stellar guard, Maxie Blalock, who put on a show. Other Bearcat scorers were Strickland, 5, Brittain, 4 and Basenburg, 4.
