Hanceville council, planning commission to meet on tiny houses development

HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Continuing the monthslong discussion on Ordinance 653, the Tiny Houses Pocket Neighborhood ordinance, the Hanceville City Council plans to hold a work session with the Hanceville Planning Commission on Monday, Feb. 27, at the Hanceville Civic Center. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. The meeting of the minds is expected to clarify details and provisions of the ordinance, which was again tabled at Thursday’s city council meeting. 

During public comments, Recovery Organization of Support Specialists (R.O.S.S.) Director of Marketing Mark Litvine shared about the organization’s new outreach in Cullman. R.O.S.S. provides free recovery resources, including assessments and transportation for those seeking help with addictions. 

The council said the owners of two properties slated to be condemned were notified and have over 40 days from the date of receipt to respond requesting a hearing with the council.

  • The Mental Health Board appointment was tabled 
  • The Hanceville City Council meeting set for March 9 was rescheduled for March 1 at 5:30 p.m.
