(Updated) CPD investigating death of infant at Economy Inn in Cullman

CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman Police Department (CPD) is investigating the death of an infant.   

CPD officers responded to a report of an infant death at the Economy Inn on U.S. Highway 31 (1834 Second Ave. NW, Cullman) around 12:30 p.m. Monday.  

Cullman County Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick said a 4-week-old baby boy was found unresponsive.  

“The baby was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased,” Kilpatrick said. “An autopsy will be performed. The Cullman Police Department is investigating the death.” 

CPD Public Relations Officer Adam Clark said the infant’s family is living at the Economy Inn. He said they called the police, and officers who responded found a 4-week-old baby deceased. 

The baby was taken to the hospital, where he was officially pronounced dead.  

“We do not know what happened yet; the investigation and autopsy are still pending,” Clark said.
