PREP VOLLEYBALL: Lady Raiders sweep area match against Hanceville

GOOD HOPE, Ala. — After sweeping Hanceville in three straight sets Monday, Good Hope returned home Thursday afternoon to host another area match with the Lady Bulldogs and they collected another area win over Hanceville after sweeping the match 25-10, 25-10 and 25-13.

Good Hope 25 – Hanceville 10 (First set)

The first match saw Good Hope jump out to an early 3-1 lead after a kill by Ruby Lucas. Hanceville made it 3-2, but the Lady Raiders reeled off eight straight points as Ivey Maddox got five aces during that stretch; Kyndall Seal and Bailey Keef each added a kill and Good Hope quickly made it 11-2. Later on in the first match, a pair of Seal aces and a pair of Keef kills pushed the Lady Raider advantage to 16-5, but the Lady Bulldogs went on a little mini run to make it a 16-9 game. But it was all Good Hope after that as they finished the game getting the final nine out of 10 points. Maddie McKenney got four aces during that final stretch, and Maddox and Keef each added two kills as well as the Lady Raiders took match one, 25-10.

Maddox finished with five aces and two kills for Good Hope. McKenney added four aces. Seal finished with a pair of aces and a kill. Addie Stripling ended up with an ace as well while Keef added five kills. For Hanceville, McHan finished with a kill and an ace, while Kayley Kahler added a kill and an ace as well.

Good Hope 25 – Hanceville 10 (Second set)

A block point by Charly Johnson gave Good Hope a quick 3-0 lead to start out match two, but Hanceville kept it close early on as a kill by Jolee McHan made it a 6-4 game. The Lady Raiders then scored six straight points as Seal had three straight aces at one point during the run and Good Hope pushed their lead to 12-4. The Lady Raiders made it a 16-5 game after back-to-back aces from Keef. The Lady Bulldogs kept battling and battling throughout the match, but Good Hope proved to be too much for them in the end as they ended up taking the second match, 25-10.

Seal finished with three aces in match two for Good Hope. Keef added a pair of aces and a kill. Maddox ended up with an ace and a kill. Williams added an acne while Johnson and Lucas each finished with a kill. For Hanceville, McHan and White each finished with a kill.

Good Hope 25 – Hanceville 13 (Third set)

Hanceville started out very strong in the third match as block points by McHan and Alivia White gave them an early 4-2 lead, but Good Hope quickly settled down as they scored six of the next seven points; the final two points came courtesy of a pair of aces by Marlee Williams and that helped give the Lady Raiders an 8-5 lead. But the Lady Bulldogs made it a 12-10 game after a block point by Kenzie Twilley. Good Hope put to rest any hopes of a Hanceville comeback, scoring seven straight points as McKenney had four aces during that stretch. The Lady Bulldogs did make it a 19-13 contest after an ace by Zoe Pitts, but Maddox and Keef took over from there. Maddox got four straight aces at one point, and Keef finished off the 25-13 win with a kill. 

McKenney and Maddox led the way for Good Hope with four aces each, while Williams added two of her own. Keel finished with two kills, while Johnson and Creel each finished with one of their own. For Hanceville, Alivia White, McHan, Kahler, Jayda White, and Twilley all finished with a block point each.  Good Hope improves to 12-5, while Hanceville falls to 0-11.

The Lady Raiders will host Curry and New Hope on September 14th at 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., while the Lady Bulldogs will travel to Corner on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
