Obituary: Bishop Gradon James ‘Chick’ Chandler

Graveside service for Bishop Gradon James ‘Chick’ Chandler, 93, of Hanceville will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Berlin Cemetery. 

Cullman Funeral Home is honored to serve the Chandler family. 

Bishop Chandler passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Cullman Regional Hospital.  He was born July 14, 1928 to Franklin Edward Benjamin and Josie Campbell Chandler. Chick and Carla faithfully served the Church of God in various leadership capacities for over 70 years.  Chick was well known by his fellow ministers and was a mentor to literally thousands of ministers over the years. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son: Galen James Chandler; sister and brother-in-law: Donnie and Frelon Harbison; brothers: Harry Chandler and Clois Chandler and brothers-in-law: Howard Barnett and Buddy White. 

Survivors include his wife of 72 years: Carla Jean Chandler; sons: Adriel (Naomi) Chandler and Edward (Carla) Chandler; daughter: Darla (Jerry) Shepherd and Dorinda (Dave) Moore; sisters: Eloise Barnett and Margie White; sisters-in-law: Wynell Chandler and Linda Chandler; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and host of family and friends.
