CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman County Circuit Clerk Lisa McSwain reported this week that her office received a clean financial audit report from the Alabama Department of Examiners of Public Accounts. The audit examined funds collected and disbursed by the clerk’s office.
According to Chief Examiner Cathy Cook, “The Office of Circuit and District Courts, Cullman County, Alabama, receipts, disburses and otherwise accounts for court costs, fines, forfeitures, fiduciary funds and other miscellaneous receipts for cases under the Courts’ jurisdiction. The amounts collected are then distributed to various state and local entities as ordered by the Courts and in accordance with state and local laws and regulations. The Circuit Clerk, an elected official, is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Circuit and District Courts.”
Examiners concluded, “Tests performed during the examination did not disclose any significant instances of noncompliance with applicable state or local laws and regulations.”
McSwain told The Tribune, “This is my third audit since taking office in 2013 and all audits have been perfect audits with no findings.”
