Akers Family Reunion

The annual Akers family reunion was held on June 16 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Cobbs, at Gum Pond.

The following relatives and friends were present: Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Blocker, Teresa and Jay and George Akers, of Sylacauga, Mr. and Mrs. A.A. Thrasher, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Thrasher, Junior, Mike, Don, Pam and Nancy, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Thrasher and Mr. and Mrs. M. Clark, of Fairfield, Mrs. Lillie Silvey, of Birmingham, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cornett, Judy, Gene and Dianne, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Cobbs and Terry and Tahoma, of Tuscaloosa, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Jarman and Billie, of Quinton, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Cobbs, of Gadsden, Dewitt, Daisy and Elsie Crawford, of Ryan, Brenda Pirkle, of Eva, Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Julian and Avery Cobbs, of Rock Creek, Mr. and Mrs. Grover Hunt and Glenn and Sheila, Mr. and Mrs. A.V. Kellery, Junior, Donnie, Linda and Anita, of Cullman  and  the  hosts, Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Cobbs.

 

 

Mrs. J.W. Bean, of Wedowee, was the dinner guest of her sister, Mrs. R.W. Bean, on Sunday.

Mrs. Virginia Hooper received a call from her husband, Eugean Hooper, on Saturday. He had just landed in Washington, from Korea and will be home in a few days.

J.W. Bean, of Wedowee and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Johns, of Talladega were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Pike, on Sunday.

 

Berlin News

Mrs. Eva Helton remains critically in Cullman Hospital.

Amos Patterson, from Memphis, Tennessee visited his parents, the Henry Pattersons, during the weekend.

Paty and Judy Smith, the small daughters of the Roy Smiths, have the mumps.

Mrs. Elva Jackson’s sister, from Birmingham, was up for a few days and Ann Jackson went home with her.

Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Duke have been visiting in Houston, Texas.

Mrs. Estell Walker and daughters and Mrs. Velma Payne and Ronnie spent a few days in Florida.

Mr. and Mrs. Sam Pair and Mr. and Mrs. Truman Cole were here on Sunday, visiting their grandmother, who is ill.

Mrs. Pearl Bailey, of Rome, Georgia visited her daughter, Mrs. Jack Parrish and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Grizzard will leave for Florida for a vacation soon.

Horace Grizzard will visit relatives in Anniston for a few days.

 

Concord News

Winford Dennie and family spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Watson.

L.E. McKinzie and family spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. McKinzie.

Mr. and Mrs. Chester Arthur, of Akin, South Carolina, spent the weekend here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.W. Bean.
