PREP FOOTBALL: Vinemont suffers 54-0 loss at J.B. Pennington

BLOUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Vinemont Eagles traveled to Blountsville to take on the J.B. Pennington Tigers Friday night in their first region game of the year. The Tigers walked away with a 54-0 victory.

Vinemont received the opening kickoff but went three-and-out. Pennington marched right down the field to take a 6-0 lead. Vinemont’s second possession was another three-and-out, and two plays later the lead was extended to 12-0. Vinemont fumbled the ball on the second play of its ensuing possession but was able to force a punt.

Early in the second quarter, Pennington threw an interception deep in Eagle territory. However, the very next play Pennington was able to force a safety to make the score 14-0. After the free kick, Pennington needed just four plays to go up 20-0. The Tigers added another touchdown to push the lead to 26-0 at halftime.

Pennington started the second half by returning the kickoff to go up 33-0 and the Tigers added two touchdowns in the third quarter to take a 47-0 lead heading into the fourth. Pennington added another touchdown in the fourth quarter to cap off the 54-0 victory.

Vinemont will try to shake this one off next week when the Eagles return home to face Carbon Hill.
