ASHVILLE, Ala. – Tonight was an awesome night on the road for the Good Hope Raiders, who came home victorious over the Ashville Bulldogs, 47-13.

If you got there one minute late, you missed the first touchdown, courtesy of Raider Eli Pugh.

Good Hope’s defense came out firing on all cylinders as well, forcing a three-and-out.

The Raiders took the ball on their own 10, and Tanner Malin tore off a long run only to be called back on a penalty. From the 5-yard line, Malin’s pocket collapsed and he took advantage of a wide open field to go 95 yards for a touchdown, making it a 14-0 game early in the first quarter.

The Raider defense wasn’t ready to give up any first downs and held the Bulldogs to another three-and-out. After an interception by Malin, the Bulldogs were forced to punt at the end of a 12-play drive. Ashville later retook possession in hopes of putting points on the board only to fumble the ball and give the Raiders the ball once again.

It took Colton Bagwell a total of one play to run the ball 24 yards for a touchdown, bringing the lead up to 20-0 with more than six minutes left in the half. An interception by Lawton Farr gave the ball back to Good Hope.

The Raiders took the ball all the way down inside the 20 but were denied a touchdown. They were able to hold the Bulldogs, though, getting the ball back and going up  27-0 after an 11-yard touchdown run by Malin.

The Raiders maintained a 27-0 lead going into the half.

The Bulldogs came out in the second half and continued to struggle through the air, tossing an interception to Anderson after just three plays. Malin connected with Ethan Anderson for a 28-yard touchdown pass, bringing the score to 34-0. The Raiders kicked it back to Ashville, and after none of the Bulldogs picked it up, Good Hope recovered the ball at the 49-yard line. A score by Konnor Stephens on a 22-yard run made it a 40-0 game late in the third.

With the Raiders giving some younger guys some field time, Ashville was able to get on the board, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Good Hope lead and the Raiders left with a 47-13 victory.

Good Hope improved to 3-0 on the season with the win and will return home to host Haleyville next week.
