COVID-19: CCSO implements safety restrictions

CULLMAN, Ala. – As concerns over the spread of COVID-19, also known as coronavirus, are increasing, Sheriff Matt Gentry has implemented several safety restrictions at the Cullman County Detention Center, as well as the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office.

No non-essential personnel can enter the Detention Center. This includes visitors, volunteers and any volunteer program officials.  Exceptions will be made for legal visits by attorneys, which will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

  1. The CCSO’s main lobby will remains open for the time being. If a person needs to renew a pistol permit, he or she can find the form at www.cullmansheriff.org/pistol-permits.php, and fill it out and mail it in. Permits will be mailed.
  2. The Detention Center will not be accepting any property for inmates from friends and family.
  3. Nurses at the Detention Center will be conducting temperature checks on all essential personnel before they enter the facility.
  4. These restrictions will be in place until April 30 and will be reevaluated at that time.
