UPDATE: York is back in custody.

MOULTON, Ala. – John Allen York, 28, a man previously charged in Cullman County with multiple charges, including making a terrorist threat at West Point Middle School, is still on the loose after escaping from the Lawrence County Jail Sunday morning. He was in custody there on separate charges, including burglary and theft.

WHNT 19 in Huntsville reported York climbed a security fence at the jail. It said the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office deployed state prison tracking dogs to search for York.

York has an extensive criminal record and is believed to be dangerous, according to authorities.

York is 5’11”, 120 pounds.

Back in November 2018, York was picked up in Sebree, Kentucky in connection with threats that were called in to West Point Middle School and Yutaka Technologies in Cullman County.

On Nov. 29, 2018, West Point Middle School received a call from a male, identified as York, who stated all the West Point Schools would be blown up at some point during the day. The schools were placed on a soft lockdown and CCSO deputies searched all of the buildings for any suspicious devices.

At the same time, Yutaka Technologies, located in the city of Cullman, received a bomb threat.

CCSO investigators worked with Cullman Police Department Investigators and determined that York was responsible for both bomb threats.

On July 12, 2019, York was arrested again and charged with multiple offenses in Cullman County, including:
