From the Files of 1920:

The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Wallace are glad to know that their two children are slowly recovering from a serious case of diphtheria.

Mr. and Mrs. John Kraft and sons, Leland and William, have returned to their home in Cullman, after spending the summer in the north.

Lots of cotton is being marketed in Cullman now. The streets are alive with cotton wagons.

Little Edward Brandes has recovered from an attack of flu.

Mr. and Mrs. Emil Peinhardt are the proud parents of a fine girl on the 14th.

A new member of the family at the Charles Derrick home is a fine son.

Mrs. J.S. Gibson and sister, Miss Katherine Gurley, were called to Newman, Georgia on Tuesday. Their brother, John Gurley, is very ill with Bright’s Disease.

Clarence Brunner has accepted a position with TCI Company in Birmingham.

Miss Thelma Kinney has accepted a position as assistant teacher at White City.

Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Peinhardt are having a pretty brick bungalow built in the north part of Cullman.

Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Norwood are having a pretty home built on the corner of Sixth Avenue and Second Street.

Mr. and Mrs. T.D. McMinn have recently added several rooms to their home, making it one of the most attractive in our city.

 

From the Files of 1954:

Mr. and Mrs. Sonny Voight, of White City, were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Milam, in Garden City.

Albert Murphree has retired as custodian at Cullman High. He began work there in 1937.

John Shelton Ballard, age 72, passed away on Thursday. Services were held at Fairview West.

Shirley, Nancy and Butch Shedd, of Hanceville, are staying at Gold Ridge this week with their grandmother, Mrs. Colon Johns.

L.J. Jones and daughter, Miss Sue Jones are spending a few days this week in Montgomery, with Sergeant and Mrs. Alvin Jones and family.

 

The Leo Hamrick family enjoyed a reunion at the Hamrick home on Sunday. This was the first time all the children and grandchildren had been together in 13 years.

The seven children and their families attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt Hamrick and son, of Kerrville, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Scherier and Richard, of Atlanta, Georgia; George Hamrick, of Auburn; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Motes, Betty and Kenneth, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Powell and Norman; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hamrick; Mr. and Mrs. Willis Hancock, Anna Marie, John and Williford and other guests were: Mrs. John Gibbs, Miss Beulah Hamrick, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Hamrick and Jerry and Mrs. Barbara Dahlke.

 

Dating Wednesday night were: Jeanenne Oden and Ralph Blalock, Beth Meadows and Allen Green, Margie Reid and Don Alexander, Shelby Fuller and Jerry Fuller, Helen Lumpkin and Frog Sandlin, Ellen Fay Shaw and Mac McAnnally and Kay Lee and Theawn Cheatwood.
