Obituary: Clifford Andrew Handley

Funeral services for Clifford Andrew Handley, Sr., 86, of Cullman, AL will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, at Moss Service Funeral Home, Brothers Larry Brown and Jason Handley officiating, and a burial in Cullman Memorial Gardens Cemetery at a later date.

Mr. Handley died Saturday, Feb. 16, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born June 20, 1932, in Cullman, AL, to Printice Andrew and Ethel Hite Handley.

A veteran of the United States Air Force, he retired from both Winn-Dixie and Norrell-Fields Dodge after several years of service. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church, St. John’s Evangelical Protestant Church and the local Moose and Elks Lodges. He was a lover of golf, Alabama football, shooting pool and playing pinochle with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Eula Shoemake and Barbara Brown; his brother, Bobby Handley; the mother of his children, Becky VanMetre; and his great-nephew, Josh Brown.

Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Ensor of Louisville, KY; three sons, Cliff (Margret) Handley, Jr. of Spring Hill, TN, Donnie (Pam) Handley and Ken (Christa) Handley, both of Cullman, AL; his ex-wife, Sara Jo Elledge Handley; 11 grandchildren, Michael Ensor, Brian (Leigh Anne) Ensor, Chad (Hannah) Ensor, Jill (Fiancé Chris Daniel) Handley, Cliff (Buffy) Handley, III, Stone (Casey) Franklin, Angie (Fiancé Jeff Shockey) Handley Young, Matthew (Fiancé Salina Berryman) Handley, Jason (Telia) Handley, Chayla Handley, and Tabitha Handley (Fiancé Daniel Venable); 11 great-grandchildren, James Ensor, Justin Ensor, Dillon Ensor, Hunter Ensor, Kash Ensor, Zadie Handley, Isiah Young, Abby Young, Brilee Handley, Jayd Handley, and Mackenna Handley; five nephews, Doug (Phylis) Smith, Bobby (Connie) Smith, Frankie (Tammy) Brown, Randy Brown, and Billy (Amy) Handley; and five nieces, Becky (Tommy) Perdue, Patti (David) Kennedy, Kathy (Steve) McIntosh, Pam (Doug) Isbell, and Lisa (Steve) Worthington.

Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, potted plants and donations are appreciated for a delayed burial service.
