MONTGOMERY – House Majority Leader Nathaniel Ledbetter, R- Rainsville on Wednesday announced that Rep. Randall Shedd, R- Fairview has been appointed as a member of the Republican Caucus Steering Committee, one of the highest leadership posts in the Caucus structure.

“The House Republican Caucus Steering Committee helps set our legislative priorities, recommends the policies that the GOP supermajority should support, and coordinates our activities on the chamber floor,” Ledbetter said. “During his time in the House, Rep. Shedd has set himself apart as a blunt talker, an innovative thinker, and a strong leader, all of which are qualities that our Steering Committee members should possess, so I am happy to appoint him to this important panel.”

Shedd expressed thanks for the committee appointment and promised to continue working to improve his district and the state, as a whole.

“As a member of the House Republican Caucus Steering Committee, I will continue working to give rural Alabama a strong and more effective voice in the Legislature, and I’ll promote the conservative beliefs, ideals, and policies that the citizens of my district embrace,” Shedd said. “I appreciate this expression of confidence in my abilities as House Republicans work to create a more prosperous and better educated Alabama.”

Prior to his election to the Alabama House in 2013, Shedd served as chairman of the Cullman County Commission and as mayor of Fairview, Alabama.

He was previously employed as the director of the Cullman County Commission on Aging and has been a strong advocate for senior citizens and their needs as a member of the House.
