CULLMAN COUNTY – Cold Springs senior Nick Johnson, 18, passed away midday yesterday, May 18, at UAB Hospital, according to family. Johnson, of Crane HIll, was involved in a single-vehicle car wreck on May 12 on County Road 222 near Big Bridge. He was airlifted to Birmingham with severe injuries.

On Wednesday night, May 17, his condition was reported by family members as precarious, and friends and classmates came together for a prayer vigil.

A friend says family members did not leave Johnson’s bedside at UAB. His parents, Leisa Tankersley and Michael and Kemberlee Johnson, as well as his siblings Dustyn, Jennah, Britney, Trystan and Michael were with him constantly.

The Tribune will post arrangements as the information becomes available.
