George Mills, a local WWII veteran, was hosted for a two-hour seminar Tuesday by Wallace State history instructor Leigh Ann Courington. She and her students dressed in period outfits and styled their hair to welcome him to the campus.

Mills served in the U.S. Army's 28th Infantry Division, which bore the brunt of the initial surprise attack that started the famous Battle of the Bulge in December of 1944. His unit was surrounded and ran out of ammunition, forcing it to surrender. Mills was also wounded in the action and received a Purple Heart. He spent the last five months of the war as a prisoner of war (POW).

This is living history at its finest. The students had lots of questions and it was quite an experience for all who attended.
