CULLMAN, Ala. – A woman was arrested on a fentanyl trafficking charge after Cullman County sheriff’s deputies reported finding approximately 4 ounces of suspected fentanyl during a traffic stop.
Deputies were conducting routine patrol Aug. 2 when they stopped a vehicle in the area of County Road 437, according to the CCSO.
The CCSO identified the driver as Daffney Matline Sims. According to court records, Sims is 60 years old.
The CCSO said deputies developed probable cause to search the vehicle. They allegedly located approximately 4 ounces of a substance that field-tested positive for fentanyl, the CCSO reported.
The CCSO did not release the circumstances that established probable cause for the search.
Sims was arrested and charged with trafficking in fentanyl. She was transported to the Cullman County Detention Center.
“This arrest is another example of our deputies remaining proactive and committed to keeping dangerous drugs out of our communities,” Sheriff Matt Gentry said. “Fentanyl continues to be one of the greatest threats we face, and our deputies will continue working every day to identify those responsible for bringing these deadly narcotics into Cullman County. I am proud of the outstanding work our deputies do to protect the citizens of this county.”
All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
