CULLMAN, Ala. – Earlier this month, Arboreadum Bookshop and Garden held a book signing event for local author, Missy Gurley and her book “The Front Porch.”
“The Front Porch” is a collection of stories that have inspired and influenced Gurley throughout her life. They range from childhood memories to wisdom gained from family members. Whether these memories were formed on a backyard swing, at a shared kitchen table or on a front porch, Gurley weaves a personal tale of the American South.
She also shares several cherished, handwritten recipes from loved ones with a note saying, “Hold them dear.” The recipes include biscuits, cookies and pies, with meaningful dedications to the original cooks and the tips they passed down through generations.
While the book is about her cherished memories, Gurley writes in a way that inspires readers to recount their own.
